This short 2D game is inspired by the theme of the Confetti Christmas Game Jam 2019: Alternate Christmas. I decided to juxtapose the traditional connotations of Christmas with a cruel view of the present-day role of this holiday through this game as a social commentary.
Since at the time of the game jam I had many other things to focus on, I could only spend about a day on this submission, as seen by its length.
It's only a few days away from Christmas. You have a budget set aside for presents, but since you feel lucky today, you feel like you could double that amount.
Once you had enough you can just simply click on the exit button to find out the story. Based on the amount of money you have left, different endings can be accessed.
Throughout the different endings you can explore the reaction of the protagonist's family toward gambling away their money. Since Christmas became all about presents instead of spending time with your family, bad presents equal bad Christmas. Through certain scenarios you can experience what that's like for you as well as others.
It was made using Unreal Engine 4 to create the game and Photoshop to make the assets.
